Welcome back to our in-depth blog series on mastering CarrierOK, your ultimate platform for vetting and monitoring freight partners. In this post, we introduce a recently added feature: Load History.

This powerful tool uncovers critical details about carrier operations, allowing you to strategically optimize your partnerships and ensure reliable performance.

Short demo of CarrierOK Load History feature

Unlocking Load History

CarrierOK's Load History feature integrates data from Bills of Lading (BOLs) and other industry sources, covering information on 3 million loads across 350,000+ carrier profiles. This integration offers a detailed look at a carrier's shipment history, providing critical data points such as:

  • Whether a carrier primarily handles full truckload (FTL) or less than truckload (LTL) shipments.

  • The frequency of deadhead runs (empty return trips).

  • A history of shippers the carrier has previously worked with.

Why Load History Matters

Understanding a carrier's load history is crucial for two main reasons: strategic prospecting and enhanced carrier qualification.

Strategic Prospecting

Leverage your existing carrier network to identify potential new customers. Load History reveals which shippers a carrier has previously worked with, allowing you to engage with new prospects who have specific shipping requirements that your carriers already meet.

How It Works:

  • Identify Potential Customers: Use the data to find shippers who align with your carrier’s capabilities.

  • Leverage Existing Networks: Engage with shippers who have worked with carriers in your network, facilitating easier introductions and building trust.

Enhanced Carrier Qualification

When evaluating carriers for new customers or lanes, Load History provides insights into their track record with similar shippers. This ensures you select carriers with a proven history of working with reputable companies, enhancing your confidence in their reliability and performance.

How It Works:

  • Assess Carrier Suitability: Check if the carrier has experience with shippers similar to your new customers.

  • Ensure Reliability: Verify that the carrier has a solid history of handling loads for reputable companies, reducing the risk of service issues.

How to Use Load History

Integrating Load History into your vetting and prospecting processes is straightforward. Here’s how to get started:

  1. Search for a Carrier: Use the CarrierOK search function to locate the carrier profile.

  2. Access Load History: Navigate to the 'Load History' section within the carrier’s profile.

  3. Review Shipment Data: Examine the carrier’s history of FTL and LTL shipments, deadhead frequency, and previous shippers.

  4. Make Informed Decisions: Use these insights to strategically prospect new customers or qualify carriers for new lanes.

Real-World Application

Imagine you’re a logistics manager looking to expand your customer base. By using Load History, you identify a shipper that aligns perfectly with your carrier’s capabilities. Additionally, when evaluating a new carrier for an important lane, Load History reveals their extensive experience with reputable shippers in similar industries, solidifying your decision to onboard them.
